Climb the hill at Tomi no Oka Winery and a beautiful panorama opens before you: majestic Mt. Fuji and the Kofu Basin stretching below. The hill was called “Tomi no Oka”—a hill beautiful when climbed—and that beautiful view became the origin of the winery’s name.
Grapes have been grown here for more than a century. Across the estate’s vast vineyards, the winery stubbornly begins with the soil, carefully nurtures every vine, hand-harvests the fruit,
then carries the process consistently through vinification and bottling.
“We want to draw out to the fullest the character of the land unique to Tomi no Oka.” The effort and passion of the growers continue to create wines that could be born nowhere else.
