ABOUT

Even if it is only one barrel, make it the very best.

Proud to be a small winery, we work to make wines that draw on the gifts of Katsunuma’s natural environment.

Specializing in Koshu, taking Koshu to the world.

We want to remain a winery that moves people everywhere.

Wine is an expression born from the relationship between people and nature.

FEATURE STORY

World-Class Koshu, from Japan to the World

Koshu is an indigenous Japanese grape variety with more than 1,300 years of history.

Katsunuma Jozo’s dream is to move people around the world with wines made from Koshu grapes.

We are uncompromising about the grape variety itself and cultivate the fruit with our own hands. Even during pressing, we work slowly and gently, without placing unnecessary stress on the grapes, drawing out their natural character and flavor.

We pursue winemaking that satisfies us in every detail.

From that conviction comes our greatest confidence.

Value Beyond Its Price, Maturing Day by Day

Since its founding in 1937, Katsunuma Jozo has pursued wines from Katsunuma that can stand proudly on the world stage.

We introduced the concept of terroir and were the first in Katsunuma to release barrel-aged Koshu.

We have embraced what might be called “the world’s highest winemaking costs,” devoting ourselves to putting value into every drop that exceeds its price.

Our aim is wine that touches people around the world and brings surprise and emotion.

More than a producer of wine, Katsunuma Jozo aspires to be a bearer of wine culture.

People and Nature Come Together in the Expression of Wine

Katsunuma lies in the eastern part of the Kofu Basin and enjoys the basin’s distinctive climate, including long hours of sunshine.

Its alluvial fans, formed through the combined influence of surrounding mountain ranges and rivers, are also said to create a distinctive terroir.

Katsunuma Jozo makes wines that reflect both “place” and “people,” drawing on Katsunuma’s unique soils and working to bring out their qualities to the fullest in wines of added value and individuality.
