ABOUT

大泉葡萄酒 is a winery jointly owned and operated by 103 grape-growing families in the Iwasaki district of Katsunuma, Koshu City, Yamanashi Prefecture.

Its predecessor, Daruma Budoshu Goshi Kaisha, was founded in 1902, giving the winery a history of more than a century. Its Koshu grapes are sourced 100% from shareholder growers, reflecting its aim to remain closely rooted in the local community.

“Wine is alive. You cannot make delicious wine without the patience to wait for each bottle to mature with affection.”

Guided by this belief since its founding, the winery’s original local Katsunuma wines carry a generous aroma and flavor shaped by reliable fruit and techniques cultivated through tradition and handed down over generations.

Please enjoy this distinctive taste, nurtured and recognized over a long history.

FEATURE STORY

Founded in 1902: A Century of History

The history of Oizumi Wine began in December 1902 with the Daruma Wine Limited Partnership, founded by nine promoters.

At the time, winemaking in Japan was still in its infancy, and public awareness of wine was far lower than it is today. The wine industry faced fierce competition for survival.

Through the efforts and research of those who came before, the winery overcame many difficulties. Even during the Pacific War, winemaking continued without interruption, carrying the business into the postwar era.

In 1963, with the hope of growing together with the local community, the company adopted Oizumi—the name of the winery's locality—as its company name. Rooted in the region, the winery continues to pursue ever higher quality.
