ABOUT

Kurayoshi Winery is housed in a traditional machiya townhouse dating from the Meiji era in Nishinaka-machi, Kurayoshi City, Tottori Prefecture.

The winery also has vineyards in Hokuei Town, Tottori Prefecture, carrying out everything from cultivation to vinification to produce Japanese wine.

“From Tottori grapes, toward the finest Japanese wine.”

Please enjoy the Japanese wines of Kurayoshi Winery.

FEATURE STORY

Commitment

The Tottori Chuo Sand Dunes area, where Kurayoshi Winery's vineyards are located, has a large diurnal temperature range and well-drained soil with water carrying minerals from the Sea of Japan.

Furthermore, the amount of sunlight during the months of 4 to 9, when grapes grow, is almost equivalent to that of Koshu in Yamanashi Prefecture, a leading grape-producing region in Japan, making it one of the most suitable locations for grape cultivation in Japan.

Taking advantage of these benefits, our vineyards cultivate grapes without using any chemical fertilizers or herbicides.

Our Winery

Although our winery is equipped with the latest winemaking machinery, our approach to vinification is based on gravity-flow principles.

At Kurayoshi Winery, we make Japanese wine using traditional methods in a traditional setting.

Kurayoshi Winery is a fruit-wine facility with a distinctive retro character, housed in a renovated machiya townhouse located within a nationally designated Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. The building had originally been used as a liquor shop since the mid-Meiji era, and its exterior still conveys its long history.

Shop & Bar

At the first-floor wine shop, you can taste wines made at the winery and choose your favorite bottle. Wine glasses and stylish, practical wine accessories are also available for purchase.

On the second floor is a wine bar where you can enjoy cellar-release wines with local ingredients while looking out over the winemaking equipment. Spend a rich, relaxing time with wine in an antique-inspired retro setting.
