The grapevines naturally disappear beneath it.
Yet that same snow protects them from the severe cold, allowing the vines to survive the frigid winter.
Our vineyard is located in the Koyachi valley of the Nobori district in Yoichi, Hokkaido. We acquired the land in 2018 and are now working hard as farmers. The vineyard covers about 2 hectares in total, consisting mainly of a sloping west-southwest-facing site and a smaller south-facing slope. In 2018, we planted approximately 2,000 young vines.
In winemaking, we focus on helping the fruit express its inherent energy and qualities without distorting them. That does not mean simply leaving everything entirely to nature; when intervention is needed, we do only what is necessary, in the amount required.
