The First Installment of the Mercian and Concha y Toro Project! "Château Mercian Iwade Koshu Amicis 2023" Released!

From Tuesday, April 2, "Château Mercian Iwade Koshu Amicis 2023" is on sale nationwide.

This product marks the first release from the "Pacific Link Project."

Here are the details.

About the "Pacific Link Project"

The "Pacific Link Project" is the first collaborative winemaking project between Mercian Corporation and Viña Concha y Toro.

Winemakers from both companies visit each other's wineries, alternating between producing globally oriented Japanese wine from "Château Mercian" and Chilean wine from Concha y Toro.

Under the four concepts of "Innovative," "Sustainability," "Global," and "Luxury," the project combines winemaking and marketing expertise from both Japan and Chile, aiming to enhance the appeal of Japanese wine both domestically and internationally, as well as to establish Chilean wine as a premium offering in Japan.

About "Château Mercian Iwade Koshu Amicis 2023"

"Amicis" in "Château Mercian Iwade Koshu Amicis 2023" is a Latin word meaning "friends."

It represents the winemaking achieved precisely because of the collaboration between "Château Mercian" and Concha y Toro, and was named with the wish to further deepen their mutual bond.

This time, recognizing that the acidity of "Koshu," familiar to Japanese palates, can be perceived as slightly sharp by global standards, they aimed for a more approachable and balanced flavor profile.

While making the most of the characteristic pure citrus aromas of "Koshu," they paid close attention to the sugar-acid balance and carried out meticulous blending, carefully managing grape harvest timing, temperatures, and durations to bring out even more of its charm.

A Koshu with a brand-new taste has arrived.
