Manns Wines Co., Ltd. released "SOLARIS Chikumagawa Chardonnay Biologique 2025" on Friday, October 9.
This wine was born from the vineyard that served as the starting point for Manns Wines' organic cultivation.
"Beppu," the Origin of Organic Cultivation
"SOLARIS Chikumagawa Chardonnay Biologique 2025" uses Chardonnay grown on vertical shoot positioned trellises with the Manns Rain-Cut system under estate organic management, situated in a single vineyard spreading across a small riverside valley just east of the Komoro winery.
This Chardonnay comes from "Beppu," which marked the origin of organic cultivation started in 2010. It is characterized by excellent acidity retention, allowing for a later harvest and resulting in a wine with more complex aromas.
Without using new oak barrels, the wine aims to honestly express the individuality of the vineyard and vintage, managed consistently from grape cultivation to winemaking in compliance with the national Organic JAS standards.
About the Wine
The appearance is a brilliant lemon yellow with golden hues.
The tone hints at dense fruitiness amidst its youthfulness. Its medium viscosity suggests sound fruit ripeness.
In addition to grapefruit and citrus, aromas accompanied by the sweetness of lemon confit emerge. Further beneath, nuances of white flowers and herbs drift faintly, offering refreshing qualities alongside underlying minerality and subtle oak-derived notes, providing depth that quietly supports the overall structure of the wine.
The attack is extremely smooth, followed by a pleasant acidity that asserts a firm presence from the mid-palate and extends cleanly through to the finish.
Alongside fresh fruitiness, a faint bitterness reminiscent of grapefruit peel serves as a delightful accent, lending complexity and depth to the flavor.
