About Hanase Winery
Hanase Winery was established in October 2020 by Classic Grape Hamada Farm in Kagoshima, which had been growing grapes for 30 years, in order to handle the entire process from grape cultivation through winemaking in-house.
[Feature 1: Grapes Grown While Listening to Classical Music]
True to the name “Classic Grape Hamada Farm,” the grapes at Hanase Winery are grown while Mozart is played in the vineyard. Each summer, when the farm opens for grape picking, professional musicians are invited to the opening ceremony and the harvest season is celebrated with live classical music.
[A Location Where Temperature Differences Create Sweetness]
Even within subtropical Kagoshima, Classic Grape Hamada Farm sits at relatively high elevation, in an area where snow can fall in winter. Large temperature differences help produce juicy fruit with high sugar levels.
[Sunny, Well-Drained Vineyards]
The vineyards lie along the beautiful Hanase River, which flows out of mountains covered in evergreen broadleaf forest. The south-facing sites receive abundant sunshine, and the grapes grow in well-drained soils formed from layers of volcanic ash and pumice.
