With the aim of offering "delicious, fresh, and everyday wine" from the land of Tsukuba,

we decided to plant wine grapes.

Striving to select grape varieties suited to the climate and terroir of Tsukuba and to cultivate soil for high-quality grapes,

we practice environmentally friendly grape growing.

FEATURE STORY

Winery

Initially, on 1000 square meters of farmland, we planted 150 seedlings of the variety "Petit Mansange" and started cultivation, expanding to approximately 2.3 hectares by the 6 year. We cultivated 15 types of grapes and searched for varieties suited to Tsukuba's climate and soil. Until now, brewing was entrusted to a brewery in Chikusei City, and sales to a local wine specialty store in Tsukuba City, but finally, a target for 2000 liters of production was reached, and we established our own winery, "Kurihara Shozojo".

The winery set out to make delicious, fresh wine that could be enjoyed as part of everyday life in Tsukuba. That goal led to planting wine grapes locally.

The winery studies which grape varieties are best suited to Tsukuba’s climate and terroir, seeking combinations that can produce high-quality fruit in this particular environment.

Building Healthy Soil

Good grapes begin with healthy soil. The winery works to improve its vineyards while considering the surrounding environment and reducing unnecessary impact on nature.
