Beautiful Vineyards Unique to Hokkaido
Upon arriving at NIKI Hills, the first thing that catches the eye is the vast and beautiful vineyard.\n\nWhen the winery was established in 2015, grapevine seedlings were in short supply and difficult to obtain.\n\nThe vineyard began with about 5,000 vines gathered from available sources. Today, roughly 20,000 vines are planted, producing enough grapes for approximately 12,000 bottles of wine each year.\n\nThe vineyard covers about 9 hectares. Its slopes provide good drainage and airflow.\n\nThe surface soil is clay, with brown forest soil beneath it, followed by gravelly layers of compacted clay and abundant zeolite. These conditions are highly suitable for wine grapes.\n\nIt is truly a beautiful vineyard in an exceptional natural setting.
