In 1995 I moved alone to France, earning three French national qualifications—Ingénieur Agronome, Oenologue and Sommelier—and accumulating professional technique, experience and knowledge covering everything from agriculture to the dining table. Captivated by the climate and rich soils suited to fruit growing, I then came to Yoichi, Hokkaido.
Hirakawa Winery was born in 2015 with the aim of making wines enjoyed on the world’s gastronomic stage.
We believe the finest winemaking reflects the natural environment and landscape in which grapes grow through aroma and taste.
That requires a consistent philosophy and conviction extending from cultivation to sensory science, and wines that work synergistically with cuisine should be designed in the vineyard.
Our goal is for the climate, terroir and ecosystem of the vineyard to appear as a flavor unique to the place, while pursuing quality that can walk alongside restaurant gastronomy.
At Hirakawa Winery, we devote ourselves passionately each day to making wine that brings rich time and the best smiles to people around the world.
