Manns Wines Releases “Solaris Chikumagawa Cabernet Sauvignon Biologique 2023”

Manns Wines Co., Ltd. has begun sales of “Solaris Chikumagawa Cabernet Sauvignon Biologique 2023.”

It is a special wine made exclusively from grapes grown in organically managed vineyard blocks.

Here are the details.

Why Make Wine Only from Organically Grown Grapes?

Manns Wines has practiced organic cultivation (biologique) since 2010. The winery says that working with both conventional and organic farming allows it to perceive the individual character of each grape more deeply.

Rather than using “organic cultivation” merely as a marketing claim, the winery decided to make wine solely from organically managed vineyard blocks to demonstrate that this land can produce wines worthy of international recognition even under the constraints of organic farming.

In the cellar, no new barrels of the kind used for other wines in the “Solaris” series are used, reducing the influence of barrel-derived aromas and tannins.

The aim is to express the grape's intrinsic character and the individuality of the land — its terroir — more purely in the wine.

Solaris Chikumagawa Cabernet Sauvignon Biologique 2023

“Solaris Chikumagawa Cabernet Sauvignon Biologique 2023” is a red wine made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grown in Manns Wines' own organically managed vineyard in the Higashiyama district of Ueda City.

It is described as a deep garnet with dark tones. Aromas open with black cherry, blackberry, and cassis, followed by notes of conifer, fern, and toast, with a refreshing quality emerging toward the finish.

The attack is clearly defined, with concentrated dark-fruit character and a powerful, structured body marked by firm astringency.

The wine is also highly viscous, with the same pleasant freshness found in the aroma continuing through a long finish.
