New Tours Debut at "Château Mercian Katsunuma Winery"! Starting Sequentially from May!

"Château Mercian Katsunuma Winery" has revamped its winery tours.

Two new courses, the "Katsunuma Discovery Tour" and the "Katsunuma Winemaker's Special Tour," will begin sequentially from Saturday, May 14.

Let's take a look at what kind of courses these are.

Supervised by MW Kenichi Ohashi!

The newly introduced tours are supervised by Kenichi Ohashi, who also serves as a brand consultant for Château Mercian.

He is a prominent figure in the wine world holding the Master of Wine qualification, often considered the most difficult in the wine industry.

Together with Mr. Ohashi, who has visited wineries all over the world, they aimed to create tours that only Château Mercian could offer—built on the desire to "convey the value of Château Mercian directly at the winemaking site, bringing empathy and inspiration to guests," alongside perspectives of "environmentally conscious winemaking" and "contribution to the Japanese wine market."

These are surely captivating tours that will help visitors appreciate the appeal of Château Mercian Katsunuma Winery even more than before.

About the "Katsunuma Discovery Tour"

The "Katsunuma Discovery Tour" allows guests to experience the appeal of Château Mercian and Japanese wine through the Château Mercian Wine Museum, grape cultivation, winemaking, tastings, and more.

Not only can you experience winemaking using all five senses, but you can also enjoy tasting wines bearing the names of Château Mercian's representative regions and grape varieties amidst the enchanting atmosphere of the Wine Museum.

Tours will be guided by the company's wine professionals, including the hospitality manager, who also served as the vinification supervisor at Château Mercian Katsunuma Winery.

About the "Katsunuma Winemaker's Special Tour"

The "Katsunuma Winemaker's Special Tour" offers a special experience spent together with the winemakers of Château Mercian Katsunuma Winery.

Winemakers with profound knowledge of wine—such as General Manager Mitsuhiro Anzo and Chief Winemaker Takayuki Tamura—lead special tours of the vineyards and winemaking facilities, sharing topics on viticulture and vinification from their individual perspectives based on the season.

Furthermore, the program includes content that even professionals can enjoy, such as having the winemakers serve as instructors for tastings of several varieties—including the flagship Icon Series of Château Mercian—in the "Ortus Room," an extraordinary private space inside the underground cellar.

It will undoubtedly offer a truly special time that can only be experienced here.

Enjoy the Winery Tours!

The "Katsunuma Discovery Tour" takes about 90 minutes and costs 3,000 yen (tax included).

Meanwhile, the "Katsunuma Winemaker's Special Tour" takes about 100 minutes and costs 10,000 yen (tax included).

In addition, "Special Tasting Seminars" with uniquely curated concepts for each session—including tastings of back vintages and rare items—will also be held irregularly.

Why not take this opportunity to enjoy a luxurious winery tour?
