Aiming to create the ideal soil for grape cultivation, we cleared a vast wasteland in Asagarano, Ritto City, Shiga Prefecture,
and through the monumental undertaking of soil inversion, swapping the topsoil with the subsoil,
our winery was splendidly realized as an ideal vineyard.
In this vineyard with sharp diurnal temperature variations and abundant sunlight, without using any herbicides,
we practice painstaking cultivation through thorough organic farming methods.

Ritto Winery (Lake Biwa Winery) has been making wine in earnest for more than 50 years.
It is a winery that has consistently focused on handcrafted, naturally oriented wines.
On its seven-hectare estate farm, developed from the soil up,
no chemical fertilizers or herbicides are used at all;
the grapes used for winemaking are grown only with organic fertilizers.
