This area has long produced high-quality grapes thanks to conditions well suited to viticulture: well-drained soils, a mild climate, relatively low rainfall, and abundant sunshine.
Good wine comes from good grapes; good grapes come from healthy vines; and healthy vines begin with good soil.
Asuka Winery values harmony with nature and works to make wines that draw out the gifts of the local terroir as fully as possible.
The winery is committed to environmentally responsible winemaking.
No chemical fertilizers are used. Pruned vine wood, grape pomace, and other organic material are composted and returned to the vineyards. The winery also practices cover-crop cultivation, allowing vines and grasses to coexist.
All of Asuka Winery's vineyards are certified by Osaka Prefecture under its eco-agricultural produce program.
The winery also received an encouragement award in the 2011 National Environmentally Friendly Agriculture Management Competition.
