making wines that express the taste of their land and vineyard.
Shiojiri City lies in the center of Nagano Prefecture and has a long history of winemaking. Today it is home to many wineries; DOMAINE SOURIRE began production in 2019 as the city’s 14th winery.\n\n“SOURIRE” means “smile” in French, expressing the hope that the winery’s wines will bring smiles to those who drink them.
We cultivate grapes on idle and abandoned farmland, which has been increasing within the city.\n\nAlong with restoring this land to productive use, we also actively work to train the next generation of growers.\n\nOur winemaking is guided by a specialist who previously taught vinification at a local high school well known for wine production. The winery focuses on producing high-quality wines.
Bakery Sourire makes breads rooted in Shiojiri ingredients, including “Shinshu Shiojiri Wine Bread,” generously kneaded with the winery’s own red wine and raisins made from Shiojiri-grown Shine Muscat grapes. Another specialty is “Zunda Salt Bread,” made with rice-flour salt bread filled generously with house-made zunda bean paste prepared from Ayamidori soybeans, a local Shiojiri specialty.
