On Friday, March 21, Wakayama Yuasa Winery will release “Koshu Orange 2024.”
The wine is made from Koshu grapes grown in Yamanashi Prefecture and produced in an orange-wine style.

Wakayama Yuasa Winery is operated by TOA Co., Ltd. and develops and produces wines and liqueurs using modern facilities.
“Koshu Orange 2024” has a soft mouthfeel and an approachable style.
It is recommended with dishes using dashi, grilled fish, and tempura. Beyond Japanese cuisine, it is also said to pair well with ethnic dishes, lighter Western-style food, and Chinese cuisine.
The Head Winemaker’s Focus
Isao Nishiuma, head of winemaking and viticulture at the winery, explains that Koshu grapes have delicate fruit character and gentle acidity, while extended skin contact adds depth and dimension.
He says the wine respects traditions rooted in the region while seeking a new expression through the form of orange wine.
The result is intended to be a supple yet structured glass that also complements Japanese cuisine.
The wine is expected to become available through the winery’s own online shop around noon on the release date.
