RIEDEL has announced “Yoichi Nobori Zwei 2022,” a red wine produced under the RIEDEL brand.
Recently, RIEDEL Aoyama held a presentation for the wine, together with a tasting event pairing it with dishes made from ingredients produced in Yoichi Town.
Here are the details.
About “Yoichi Nobori Zwei 2022”
“Yoichi Nobori Zwei 2022” is the first wine produced by RIEDEL Japan.
It is a rare red wine made from wine grapes—Pinot Noir and Zweigeltrebe—grown at the “Miki no Hotori” orchard in Yoichi Town and vinified by Takahiko Soga of the renowned Yoichi winery Domaine Takahiko.
Available through Hometown Tax Donations
At the presentation mentioned above, Soga reportedly commented: “The Pinot Noir and Zweigeltrebe were each fermented as whole clusters with wild yeast and aged in one barrel each, then blended 50:50. Whole-cluster fermentation of Zweigeltrebe is unusual, but the result is a smooth, savory red wine that feels very much like a Yoichi wine.”
“Yoichi Nobori Zwei 2022” is scheduled for release around spring 2024, but it will not be sold through general retail. Instead, it is planned as a hometown-tax return gift in a set with a RIEDEL wine glass, the “RIEDEL Superleggero Machine-Made Burgundy Grand Cru.”
Reservations are expected to be available through the special “Yoichi Town Thanksgiving Festival” hometown-tax campaign beginning Thursday, November 23, a national holiday.
