On Tuesday, January 30, Yamanashi Prefecture will host a GI "Yamanashi" sake tasting exhibition and a pairing event featuring dishes made with prefecture-grown ingredients for luxury hotel staff and alcoholic beverage sales professionals in the Tokyo metropolitan area.
While Yamanashi Prefecture is famous for Japanese wine, it is also known for the high quality of its sake, which Japanese wine fans are sure to appreciate as well.
Let us take a closer look at the details.
About the Pairing Event
This upcoming pairing event is an initiative organized by Yamanashi Prefecture to raise awareness of the "Bishu Biken Yamanashi" brand as a production region for high-quality alcoholic beverages.
Yamanashi's sake received the Geographical Indication (GI) "Yamanashi" designation from the National Tax Agency in April 2021, making Yamanashi the first prefecture in Japan to have two types of alcoholic beverages designated as GIs from the same prefecture (sake and wine; wine was designated in July 2013).
Taking this opportunity, Yamanashi Prefecture has been carrying out promotions under the banner of "Bishu Biken Yamanashi" to showcase the appeal of various fine beverages born from Yamanashi's beautiful nature and the masterful craftsmanship of its producers, and this event is part of that effort.
About the GI "Yamanashi" Sake Tasting Exhibition
The venues for the GI "Yamanashi" Sake Tasting Exhibition will be the Bulgari Hotel Tokyo Ballroom and Il Ristorante Private Room.
The main program will feature a tasting exhibition with booths set up by each sake brewery, as well as a pairing event matching GI "Yamanashi" sake with dishes made using ingredients from the prefecture.
Participants are expected to include sommeliers, sales staff, and sales managers, among others.
Industry professionals should definitely check it out.
