On Saturday, November 22, 2025, Hokkaido Wine will hold a special tasting event at the Otaru Wine Gallery in Otaru, Hokkaido, offering guests the chance to experience the depth and enjoyment of sparkling wine.
The event commemorates the gallery's 30th anniversary.

About the Tasting Event
Hokkaido Wine began producing sparkling wine using the traditional method in earnest in 2016, faithfully following the secondary fermentation-in-bottle process established in France.
Its winemaking methods were taught directly by technicians from Champagne houses and are grounded in established theory and experience.
At this tasting, guests will see a demonstration and explanation of sparkling-wine production by secondary fermentation in bottle and compare several sparkling wines side by side.
About the Program
A new product scheduled for release in December will be unveiled in advance.
Along with currently available traditional-method sparkling wines, the lineup will include the newly released September bottlings “Kerner” and “Gewürztraminer,” both made by carbon dioxide injection, for a total of seven sparkling wines.
During the demonstration, Hokkaido Wine's head winemaker Yuki Kasai will perform disgorgement in front of guests. Participants will also compare a dosaged wine, adjusted with liqueur d'expédition, with a non-dosage wine with no added sweetness, offering a full experience of the “world of bubbles” created by secondary fermentation in bottle and the delicate, elegant sparkling wines shaped by Hokkaido's cool terroir.
Around 30 carefully selected wines, including sparkling wines, will also be available that day.
Special pairing snacks prepared by popular local Otaru Italian restaurant Osteria Il Piatto Nuovo will also be served.
It promises to be an exceptionally rich event.
