Wines from Nagano Prefecture selected by Tokyu Group sommeliers have gone on sale at department stores and supermarkets.
The group has also begun serving them at hotel restaurants.

About the Sale of Nagano Wines
The Nagano wines selected by Tokyu Group sommeliers are being sold as part of a comprehensive partnership agreement between Tokyu Corporation and Nagano Prefecture aimed at sustainable regional development with an eye to the future.
In 2020, Tokyu Department Store wine buyer Mr. Aoyama visited respected winery Domaine KOSEI in Shiojiri, Nagano, selected the best barrel from among those being matured, and began an initiative to sell the wine at Tokyu Department Store.
As sommeliers shared knowledge and experience through a “Sommelier Conference,” their common desire to “create a new original wine by combining the strengths of Tokyu Group sommeliers” led sommeliers from three companies to jointly select an original wine, Shinshu Kataoka Merlot Shikon 2023.
Through this initiative, the group is creating opportunities to communicate the appeal of Nagano wine through both retail sales and service at hotel restaurants.
About the Wine
The wine now on sale is Domaine KOSEI Shinshu Kataoka Merlot Shikon 2023, a full-bodied red.
It is made from grapes harvested from two relatively high-elevation vineyards in the Kataoka area at 690–700 meters. To highlight its rich fruit, the wine was matured in one-year-used American-oak barrels with medium toast.
Its tasting profile includes a deep, brilliant reddish-purple color, aromas suggesting fresh plum and blackcurrant combined with barrel-derived flavors, and a rich palate.
Fine-grained tannins and firmer tannins on the finish are pleasantly balanced, resulting in a full-bodied wine designed to be savored slowly.
