Sawa Wines Launches Fourth Crowdfunding Campaign to Expand Production, Maintain Quality, and Build the Yachimata Wine Brand

Sawa Wines, operated by Yamamoto Farm Co., Ltd., is taking on its fourth crowdfunding campaign.

The project is seeking support to expand production, maintain quality, and promote branding for wine made in Yachimata, with the broader aim of creating a sustainable local economy.

Here are the details.

About Sawa Wines

Sawa Wines is a winery operated by Yamamoto Farm Co., Ltd. It was established in 2021 after obtaining a liquor production license through Japan's special wine-zone system—the first such case in Chiba Prefecture.

In the Koyaru area of Yachimata, the team carefully cultivates grapes one by one and aims to be a small-scale winegrower producing distinctive wines with close attention to quality.

As the winery enters its fifth vintage, it has decided on two equipment investments to strengthen efforts to expand production, maintain quality, and advance the branding of Yachimata wine.

The first is to install new rain shelters in the vineyard to secure grape yields in Yachimata. The second is to add wine storage tanks to secure production capacity. To raise the ¥3 million required for these investments, Sawa Wines is launching its fourth crowdfunding campaign.

Sawa Wines' Ongoing Challenge

Sawa Wines has conducted three crowdfunding campaigns to date, receiving ¥2,103,000 in support from 168 people.

The first was the "Wine of Hope Project," the second the "Rose Tree Owner Project," and the third the "Grape Harvest Experience Project." During this series of initiatives, the winery was established in October 2021.

At the winery and vineyard in Yachimata, Chiba, the team wants to add small-batch fermentation tanks at the winery and install plastic rain-cover roofing in the vineyard.

Now entering its fifth season, the winery is taking on a fourth crowdfunding challenge with the goal of further improving the quality of both its grapes and its wines.
