About the Origins of the Event
The area along the Chikuma River stretching from the Toshin to Hokushin regions, including Miyota where "THE HIRAMATSU Karuizawa Miyota" is located, is called the "Chikuma River Wine Valley" and is one of the four active wine-producing districts in Nagano Prefecture.
The eight sommeliers at "THE HIRAMATSU Karuizawa Miyota" have also been fascinated by the local wines, visiting producers and being continually amazed by their high quality.
Encountering numerous captivating wines and learning about the meticulous work of the winemakers inspired the feeling: "Just as we were moved by Shinshu wine, we want to deliver that same excitement to our guests." This spark of passion among the sommeliers is said to be the origin of this event.
About the Event Details
"Shinshu Wine Week" is an event that has been held quarterly since June 2022, and this edition marks its 5th time.
As an exclusive plan for "Shinshu Wine Week," a special accommodation plan with pairings will be available, and a special wine salon will be set up for hotel guests every day during the period from 16:00 to 17:00 where they can taste Shinshu wines.
From a pre-dinner apéro as a prologue all the way through dinner pairings at the French restaurant "Le Grand Lys" on the 1st floor of the main building, guests can fully enjoy the charms of Shinshu wine in a seamless experience.
Additionally, at the special wine salon, guests will welcome Toru Konishi, President and Chief Viticulturist/Winemaker of "Villa d'Est Winery," on June 16, and Kazuto Kuwabara, Chief Viticulturist/Winemaker of "Terre de Ciel," on June 23, offering the opportunity to taste 4 kinds of each producer's wines while talking with them directly.
On other days, Shinshu wines recommended by the hotel's eight sommeliers will be available.
