Lumiere Releases "Hop Cider", Their First Product Made with Apples and Hops!

"Lumiere" is a long-established winery in Yamanashi that continues to produce fascinating Japanese wine.

Starting April 1, "Hop Cider", their first product made using apples and hops, will be on sale.

Here are the details.

A Newly Developed Product!

Since 2010, Lumiere has been selling "Cider", a fermented beverage made from "Tsugaru" apples grown in Nirasaki City, Yamanashi Prefecture.

As the preferences of consumers have diversified in recent years, the winery explored whether they could create a new flavor profile.

Leveraging the experience and techniques cultivated in cider making, they reportedly developed the new "Hop Cider" by infusing hops during the cider production process.

Carefully Selected Ingredients!

According to the winery, the ingredients for "Hop Cider"—apples and hops—are strictly "100% grown in Yamanashi Prefecture".

It uses "Tsugaru" apples grown in Nirasaki City, located in northern Yamanashi Prefecture, known for their abundant juice and strong sweetness, as well as "Shinshu Wase" hops grown in Hokuto City—an area with a long history of hop cultivation at the foot of Mount Yatsugatake—characterized by a refreshing citrus aroma.

This cider is sure to draw the attention of Yamanashi wine fans.

Easy and Casual to Drink!

"Hop Cider" comes in a 250ml size that can be easily finished by one person.

In addition, the alcohol content is 7%, which is lower than regular wine at around 12%, making it a bottle that health-conscious people and younger demographics can casually enjoy.

Furthermore, because of the great balance between the sweetness of the apples and the crisp, bitter taste of the hops, it is also recommended for those who find the bitterness of beer a bit difficult to drink.

It is an ideal cider for a drink after a bath, an accompaniment to lunch, or for outdoor drinking occasions.

Enjoy Yamanashi-grown "Hop Cider"

"Hop Cider" can be purchased at the Lumiere Winery Shop in Yamanashi Prefecture, the Lumiere Tokyo Shop "In Vino Veritas", the online shop (https://www.lumiere.jp/shop), and is also scheduled to be sold at select supermarkets and liquor stores.

It is an appealing bottle that Japanese wine fans should definitely try.
