When touring wineries in Yamanashi Prefecture, many people likely purchase Kikyou Shingen Mochi as a Yamanashi souvenir.
In fact, an "evening Kikyou Shingen Mochi" enjoyable only by adults has now emerged from that very Kikyou Shingen Mochi.
The liqueur "Kikyou Shingen Kuromitsu Kinako" was released on Tuesday, December 6.
Let us introduce the details.
Jointly Developed by 4 Businesses in Yamanashi
"Kikyou Shingen Kuromitsu Kinako" is a newly developed product created through an "All-Yamanashi" initiative jointly developed by four businesses in Yamanashi.
It is crafted into a liqueur where you can enjoy the exact flavor of "Kikyou Shingen Mochi," the synonymous product of Kikyouya.
In February 2022, Fujisan Product proposed a product planning and development collaboration to Kikyouya, one of Yamanashi Prefecture's leading confectionery makers.
As a result, under the supervision of Kikyouya, a collaborative product using the black honey (kuromitsu) and roasted soybean flour (kinako) from Kikyou Shingen Mochi as ingredients was born.
About "Kikyou Shingen Kuromitsu Kinako"
This liqueur is an alcoholic beverage characterized by the distinctively thick, sweet, and rich taste of kuromitsu and the fragrant aroma of kinako.
While enjoying it as a latte cocktail mixed with milk is recommended, mixing it with soy milk as a "soy latte cocktail"—a trendy style nowadays—is particularly recommended, as the "soy" of kinako and the "soy" of soy milk match exquisitely.
With an alcohol content of 20%, adding a touch of fruit-forward Yamanashi red wine might also make for an interesting wine cocktail.
A New Yamanashi Souvenir!
The price of "Kikyou Shingen Kuromitsu Kinako" is 2,420 yen (tax included).
It is available for purchase at souvenir shops across Yamanashi Prefecture, including "Wine Cellar" inside Celeo Kofu Station, "Cafe & Wine Bar Budoshu Ichibankan," and the Kikyouya Headquarters Shop, as well as on the Kikyouya online store.
After enjoying Yamanashi wine locally, why not purchase this liqueur as a souvenir for a little extra treat?
