Long-established Japanese wine producer Katsunuma Jozo Co., Ltd. has announced a Koshu grape wine called "Aruga Branca Isehara BS (Barrel Selection)."
Sales will begin on April 1, 2023, in limited quantities at select stores.
Here are the details.
About "Aruga Branca Isehara"
"Aruga Branca Isehara" is a premium dry white wine of a higher tier, fermented and barrel-aged in high-quality oak from Isehara, which is already highly acclaimed within the Aruga Branca series.
Made exclusively from Koshu grapes harvested from a single vineyard in the Isehara district of Fuefuki City, Yamanashi Prefecture, it has gained popularity as a wine characterized by gorgeous aromas of passion fruit, grapefruit, and more.
According to Katsunuma Jozo, although they had repeatedly taken on the long-desired challenge of barrel-aging Isehara, it had been difficult to retain the citrus aromas unique to Isehara, leaving it unrealized until now.
However, this challenge has finally succeeded this time.
It is a must-drink bottle for Japanese wine fans.
About "Aruga Branca Isehara BS (Barrel Selection)"
"Aruga Branca Isehara BS (Barrel Selection)" is a bottle crafted using Koshu from a single vineyard located in the Isehara district of Fuefuki City, Yamanashi Prefecture, which features alluvial soil.
To bring out the "aroma and minerality" characteristic of Isehara, it is fermented and aged at low temperatures; additionally, the barrels used this time are high-quality casks that are thicker and finer-grained compared to those conventionally used.
According to the winery, it is crafted into a masterpiece with a smooth, elegant taste and complexity.
