JR East View Tourism & Sales Co., Ltd. has launched the fifth installment of its “A New Journey Begins with a Glass” series: a two-day, one-night tour in Niigata.
The itinerary visits Cave d’Occi Winery and sake breweries while offering seasonal Niigata specialties promoted by the prefecture, including nodoguro, nanban shrimp and Niigata rice.

The “A New Journey Begins with a Glass” series is built around the idea that an encounter with a single glass of alcohol can become a gateway to the local drinking culture, food culture and the stories of producers, helping travelers understand a destination more deeply through its beverages.
The fifth installment is a two-day, one-night tour set in Niigata.
Stops include Takano Shuzo, Echigo Beer, Cave d’Occi Winery and Niigata Hitotsubu Shuzo.

At Cave d’Occi Winery, participants will also tour the winemaking building and aging cellar while looking out over the vineyards, learning about the process from grape growing through vinification and maturation.
The tour also includes a luxurious two-color rice bowl featuring seasonal nodoguro, known as a premium fish, together with fresh nanban shrimp at “Niigata Nihonbashi” in Furumachi, Niigata City’s historic entertainment district.
