"fwinery", an Urban Micro-Winery Established by Felissimo! Winemaking Starts on June 22!

"fwinery", a seaside urban micro-winery established by Felissimo Inc., obtained a fruit wine manufacturing license from the Kobe Tax Office on June 17.

Winemaking commenced on June 22.

While the company has previously imported and mail-ordered wine, it has now begun producing wine in-house.

Sourcing and Producing from Quality Grapes

"fwinery" is located inside "Stage Felissimo", Felissimo's new headquarters building in the waterfront district of Shinko-cho, Kobe City.

Rather than insisting on developing their own vineyards to cultivate wine grapes, they aim to make wine that is not restricted by land, terroir, or climate change, sourcing fine grapes of the moment from various regions.

The first batch of wine is scheduled to be ready around late September, so let's look forward to it.

Enjoy Wine While Viewing Authentic Brewing Equipment!

The appeal of an urban winery is that you can view the winemaking facility while remaining in an urban area.

While urban wineries are generally often cozy and have an artisanal feel, "Stage Felissimo" is quite full-scale.

In the "brewing area" where a winemaker is permanently stationed, a total of nine tanks are installed, consisting of seven Slovenian stainless steel tanks and two resin tanks, and it is capable of producing up to approximately 30,000 bottles per year. (Equivalent to 750ml full bottles)

Furthermore, in the glass-walled "tasting & bar area" where you can look into the brewing area, you can reportedly enjoy wine along with tastings and hors d'oeuvres.

It feels like it will become a new sightseeing spot in Kobe City.

An Urban Winery to Liven Up Japanese Wine!

According to "fwinery", they also plan to recruit individual and corporate partners to promote new wine culture and research winemaking together.

In addition, they have also begun experiments cultivating wine grapes in coastal areas and ocean aging experiments submerging wine bottles in the southern port area, so if you are interested, check out their official social media.

Yet another fascinating winery has joined the ranks to invigorate Japan's wine culture.

If you love Japanese wine, why not visit "fwinery"?
