Hoshinoya Kyoto, an all-river-view ryokan located in Arashiyama, Kyoto Prefecture, is hosting "Rankyo no Noryo Kawadoko," limited to one group per day.
The event runs from July 1 to July 31, 2023, and guests will also be able to enjoy Japanese wine.
Here are the details.
About "Rankyo no Noryo Kawadoko"
"Rankyo no Noryo Kawadoko" is a program limited to one group per day where guests spend time feeling the breeze in an open-air floating tea room jutting out over the Oi River.
Set up in a floating tea room reminiscent of the tsuridono (fishing pavilion) of the shinden-zukuri architectural style where Heian aristocrats used to keep cool, and styled with furnishings evoking a chodai (canopied platform), guests can savor a hamo (pike conger) kaiseki course paired with Kyoto sake and Japanese wine.
In the midst of Kyoto's fierce summer heat, this program reportedly allows guests to enjoy dinner in a private space while admiring the scenery and the breeze from the Oi River, experiencing an elegant summer cooling tradition just like the Heian aristocracy.
