There must be many Japanese wine fans who also love coffee.
From March 1 to May 31, 2024, the "Coffee Discovery" event will be held at Japan's first glamping resort, Hoshinoya Fuji, where guests can enjoy original barrel-aged coffee matured in wine casks.
Let us introduce the details.
About "Coffee Discovery"
"Coffee Discovery" is a program to discover new appeals of coffee by enjoying a brew made over a bonfire you kindle yourself.
It has gained popularity as a program where you savor coffee roasted and brewed over a bonfire together with a glamping master at special seats in the forest.
This year, the concept allows guests to enjoy original barrel-aged coffee matured in wine casks tailored to 3 different stay settings.
The content is crafted so that wine fans can enjoy it too.
Enjoying the Flavor of Yamanashi Wine
This year's "Coffee Discovery" is planned with the desire for people to discover a new charm of coffee by combining coffee, which has a high affinity with the outdoors, with wine, for which Yamanashi Prefecture boasts the No. 1 production volume.
While it is generally mainstream to use whiskey barrels, Hoshinoya Fuji uses original coffee beans aged in Yamanashi-made Muscat Bailey A wine barrels.
By aging coffee beans with similar aromatic and flavor nuances in wine barrels, the coffee beans take on the red fruit-like aroma reminiscent of berries characteristic of Muscat Bailey A and the oak aroma from the wine barrels, resulting in a coffee with a deeper flavor that is distinct from ordinary flavored coffee.
Just what kind of coffee flavor can you enjoy?
Please be sure to check it out for yourself.
