Oujiman Co., Ltd. has begun releasing single-varietal wines under the HOCCA WINE 2021BY label.
The first release is "HOCCA Chardonnay."
Here are the details.
What is "HOCCA"?
"HOCCA" is a somewhat unusual cider and wine brand brought to you by the makers at Oujiman, a sake brewery in Tsuruoka City, Yamagata Prefecture.
"Hocca Winery" was established in 2021 with the goal of creating fruit wines that bring happiness to those who drink them—reminiscent of the wine carried by Little Red Riding Hood, blending unpretentious elegance with playful charm.
The name "HOCCA" is derived from "hokkamuri" (a headscarf worn during farm work), reflecting their aim to craft alcoholic beverages where the local landscape can be seen beyond the taste.
About "HOCCA Chardonnay"
"HOCCA Chardonnay" is a dry white wine with an aroma that combines richness and freshness, alongside a clean flavor well balanced with acidity and minerality.
It is a special Chardonnay perfected through deliberate, unhurried oak barrel aging.
Furthermore, to commemorate the release of "HOCCA Chardonnay 2021," a release commemorative set is being sold for a limited time on their online shop.
It is reportedly a special set that combines this wine with two varieties that debuted this autumn: "HOCCA TABLE Rouge" and "HOCCA Table Blanc."
