Starting Friday, March 29, "Private Wine 2023" goes on sale at Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba.
These wines were reportedly created in collaboration with "Fukagawa Winery."
Here are the details.
About the Private Wine
Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba has been selling private wines since 2017.
This time, the 2023 vintage is being released in collaboration with "Fukagawa Winery."
This year's lineup features unfiltered red and rosé wines, the orange wine that quickly sold out last year due to great popularity, and, for the first time in the project's history, a Chardonnay aged in barrels for 3 years and 7 months, available in a limited release of 100 bottles.
Embracing the perspective that "impurities are also part of umami," the unfiltered red, rosé, and orange wines allow you to enjoy a natural flavor overflowing with the original fruitiness of the grapes.
Details of the Wines on Sale This Time
The wines available at Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba are summarized below.
◆ Yamagata Koshu Orange Wine 2023
The orange wine that sold out last year due to great popularity returns again this year. Its astringency from the skins and seeds and gentle acidity pair wonderfully not only with fish dishes, but also with white meat dishes such as chicken and pork.
◆ Yamanashi Nirasaki Muscat Bailey A 2023 (Red)
By adding the skins and seeds removed midway through making the rosé into the red wine fermentation tank, this wine was brewed using twice the usual amount of skins. It features a deeper color and a firmer sense of astringency than standard Muscat Bailey A. It pairs exceptionally well with tomato-based sauces and braised dishes.
◆ Yamanashi Nirasaki Muscat Bailey A 2023 (Rosé)
With its charming pink hue, this rosé is recommended for lunchtime basking in natural light. Combining gentle astringency with refreshing crispness, it can be enjoyed alongside a wide variety of dishes.
◆ Yamagata Abiko Chardonnay 2019 (Aged 3 Years and 7 Months in Oak Barrels)
A portion of the wine brewed in 2019 was aged in wooden barrels. The aromatic toastiness imparted by the oak and its rich, voluminous flavor display an outstanding affinity with grilled or teppanyaki-cooked meat and fish dishes that make the most of the ingredients' natural qualities. Please savor the mature complexity that brewing techniques alone cannot create—something born only through the passage of time.
Among them, the debut Chardonnay is a rare bottle created by aging a portion of the white wine made in 2019 in wooden barrels.
Be sure to take this opportunity to check them out.
