A Beautiful Winery on the Asagiri Plateau! Mt. Fuji Winery Launches Its Official Website!

Mt. Fuji Winery, with its brewing facility located on the Asagiri Plateau, has launched its official website.

This winery has also garnered attention from Michelin-starred restaurants.

Here is an overview of what the site has to offer.

About Mt. Fuji Winery

Mt. Fuji Winery is located on the Asagiri Plateau in Fujinomiya City, Shizuoka Prefecture.

In a prime location surrounded by mountains over 1,000 meters high with Mount Fuji at the center, high-quality Koshu grapes are cultivated.

Producing Koshu wines used by Michelin-starred Japanese restaurants, the winery is also famous for having sparked the current Koshu wine boom.

The winery's history began with the "Japan Wine Project," which set out with the mission to revitalize Japanese agriculture by crafting Japanese-produced wine capable of competing globally.

In search of vineyards suited for growing wine grapes, they conducted more than 30 years of research across 20 locations nationwide, and finally discovered the ideal site in Hitoana, Fujinomiya City, Shizuoka Prefecture.

Through trial and error, they succeeded from the 2000s onward in creating "the first wine in Japan capable of competing on the global stage."

Today, they are also carrying out sustainability projects that encompass not only the natural environment but also human resources.

About the Website

On Mt. Fuji Winery's website, along with introductions to the winery, you will find an online wine shop and programs allowing visitors to take part in grape growing and winemaking.

A particular highlight of the website is the online shop.

In addition to their own wines, wines from all over the world, including France, Italy, Spain, and New Zealand, are available for purchase.

Among them, covetable gems for wine enthusiasts such as <Chapoutier Ermitage Le Pavillon 2013>, <Lucien Le Moine Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes 2003>, and <Château Lafite 2009> are on sale at reasonable prices.

A defining feature of the site is that it is convenient to use not only for Japanese wine, but also whenever you feel like enjoying top-class wines from around the world.

Recommended: <Shizen Sparkling Koshu>

Since it is the Mt. Fuji Winery site, the first bottle you will naturally want to pick up is one crafted by the winery itself.

The wine available on this site is none other than the Koshu sparkling wine <Shizen Sparkling Koshu>.

While Champagne's sweetness can risk overpowering and spoiling the delicacy of Japanese cuisine, this Shizen Sparkling Koshu boasts the rich, natural umami of the grapes, resulting in a wine that truly deserves to be called "a sparkling wine for Japanese cuisine."

Using 100% locally grown Koshu grapes, it undergoes bottle aging for a minimum of 2 years using the traditional method.

Crafted without blending any other varieties, and avoiding barrel sur lie aging and excessive malolactic fermentation, it brings out the pure fruit flavors of the Koshu grape.

A Site That Wine Lovers Worldwide Can Enjoy

Mt. Fuji Winery's website is designed to be enjoyed not only by Japanese wine fans, but also by wine enthusiasts across the globe.

Although the winery has been promoting the appeal of Koshu since before the Japanese wine boom began, there are likely many who are discovering it for the first time.

Why not take this opportunity to check out Mt. Fuji Winery's website, and if the timing aligns, pay a visit to the winery in person?
