In Nakameguro, one of Tokyo’s most stylish neighborhoods, finding a fashionable café is hardly difficult.
But an attractive café where you can casually enjoy perfectly ripe, exceptionally delicious fresh fruit at its peak is still something rather special.
On June 5, “Bonchi Stand” opened beneath the elevated tracks in Nakameguro.
Operator Bonchi Inc. believes that “fruit makes people happy.” Together with agricultural corporation Earth Works, the company is working to create an entirely new, sustainable agricultural ecosystem that cycles through three areas—not only fruit sales, but also the development and succession of farming know-how and agricultural production.
Japan’s farming population is aging. More specifically, Bonchi aims to address problems such as a shortage of successors and abandoned farmland by building a new system for training the next generation of farmers, passing traditional skills from experienced growers to younger people, and improving production environments so that high-quality fruit can be supplied consistently. It also seeks to minimize food loss by selling fruit in diverse forms, from fresh produce to processed products. Bonchi Stand is one expression of that effort, bringing thoughtfully presented fruit into the city.
In that sense, the café could be seen as an accessible gateway to sustainable agriculture.

When people think of enjoying seasonal fruit in Tokyo, several long-established luxury fruit parlors may come to mind. Bonchi Stand, however, is decidedly casual—you can drop in with the ease of visiting a coffee shop.
Its fruit cheesecake bars, made with perfectly ripe fresh fruit, are stylish enough to lift your mood at first glance. The fruit itself, sourced from trusted regions and growers, is exceptionally flavorful and turns an ordinary café break into something special.
They could also make a great gift to bring to a party.

Fruit Juices Featuring Shirayuri Winery’s Koshu and Muscat Bailey A, Too
Another item likely to catch the attention of Japanese wine fans is Bonchi’s original fruit juice.
Several varieties are available, and the Koshu and Muscat Bailey A juices use grapes from Shirayuri Winery, a long-established winery in Yamanashi Prefecture.
They are a great option on an alcohol-free day, or a way for companions who do not drink alcohol to enjoy the same grape varieties together.
Outside Bonchi’s directly operated cafés, the juices are also reportedly available at premium supermarkets such as Suzukiya and Precce.

If you want to satisfy both body and spirit in a healthy way, why not experience Bonchi Stand in Nakameguro?
Agriculture is one of Japan’s proud traditions, stretching back thousands of years, yet parts of the sector today face various modern challenges.
Perhaps agriculture, too, needs a contemporary form of “circulation”—one that values outstanding skills, culture and local character while keeping them moving into the future.
That is the kind of “cycle” envisioned by Bonchi representative Yuya Hiizumi under the idea of “enriching people’s lives through fruit.” Come experience what that vision looks like in practice.
