On Friday, May 30, “Zero Waste Day,” coffee roastery ATARAO will hold a hands-on event themed around resource circulation.
Wines from Yokohama Winery will also be available by the glass at the event.
Here are the details.
About the event
ATARAO, the venue for the hands-on resource-circulation event, is a circular coffee roastery founded by Ergana Design representative Aoki and COVE COFFEE ROASTERS representative Yamamoto. It reuses 100% of spent coffee grounds as fuel to roast new coffee beans.
Through the event, ATARAO aims to help more people learn about its resource-circulation initiatives in an enjoyable way and to encourage new community building and interaction through experiences that let visitors “see, taste and wear” circular use of resources.
Event details
The event will offer special coffee roasted using spent coffee grounds as fuel, along with a range of foods built around the theme of “circulation,” created in collaboration with producers practicing circular dairy farming and operators of an urban winery.
Among the offerings, natural-yeast-fermented wines made without added oxidizing agents from Yokohama’s urban winery Yokohama Winery are scheduled to be sold by the glass.
It is also an event worth noting for Japanese wine fans.
