"Art Paysan Winery" is currently running a crowdfunding project offering craft cider!

Art Paysan Winery is a small winery that opened in 2019 in Hanamaki City, Iwate Prefecture.

Social Welfare Corporation Yuwakai, which operates the winery, has now launched a crowdfunding project offering craft cider made from apples cultivated on abandoned farmland.

Among the wineries that produce Japanese wine, there are quite a few places that not only craft wine from grapes, but also produce "cider" made from apples.

Many lovers of Japanese wine are likely paying attention to cider as well.

Please be sure to take a look at this crowdfunding project.

Project Overview

Art Paysan Winery is a winery that clears abandoned farmland to cultivate "apples" and "grapes."

Through its community-based activities, the social welfare corporation that serves as the operating body reportedly began receiving consultations from elderly farmers; in 2018, it utilized rice paddies that had gone uncultivated for many years to plant grape saplings and began cultivating wine grapes as well.

This project is undertaken not only to raise awareness of Art Paysan Winery, but also to tackle local community challenges.

Receive High-Quality First Vintage Craft Cider!

The reason this project deserves attention is not only its passion, but also that high-quality cider brewed by the winery will be delivered as a reward.

Art Paysan Winery crafted a cider called "Pomme Sucrée 2019" using apples harvested in 2019, and remarkably won SILVER at the 4th Fuji Cider Challenge 2020.

Moreover, this competition was judged by prominent figures from the cider and wine industries among 69 entries from 5 countries worldwide, leaving no doubt about its quality.

Aiming for a flavor profile that pairs well with food—particularly Japanese cuisine through trial and error—they finished it with a dry, clean taste while bringing out the fruitiness, making it a rewarding return gift that serves as an excellent indicator of this project's future.

How Will the Raised Funds Be Used?

It is worth noting how the funds raised through this crowdfunding project will be put to use.

According to the winery, they wish to purchase saplings of "Petit Manseng," which is still rare in Japan, and hope to establish cider and winemaking in Hanamaki to continue reclaiming abandoned farmland, turning it into a place that fosters the very "lifestyle" connected to Hanamaki's future 50 and 100 years from now.

While this crowdfunding project will not yield immediate results, there is no doubt that it is a crucial project for the future of agricultural land.

If you resonate with their vision, why not check it out?

Taste Petit Manseng from Hanamaki!

Petit Manseng is a variety widely used in wines from South West France, and it remains a rare variety with limited plantings in Japan.

The fact that it will emerge from Hanamaki, Iwate Prefecture, is truly romantic.

Wanting to drink Hanamaki's Petit Manseng, and wanting to save abandoned farmland.

If you feel that way, why not consider supporting them?
