Olives are one of the ingredients that pair outstandingly well with wine.
Domestically grown, early-harvested "Akayane Olive Asazuke" has been released for a limited season and in limited quantities.
This product is perfect for those who want to insist on domestically grown olives when pairing them with Japanese wine.
Here are the details.
About "Akayane Olive Asazuke"
"Akayane Olive Asazuke" consists of salt-pickled, early-harvested olives made by Nippon Olive Co., Ltd. using 100% Manzanilla olives from its own farm in Ushimado.
A unique product utilizing the traditional Japanese recipe for "asazuke" (light pickling), it is a meticulous masterpiece made from Manzanilla olives—known among olive varieties for their "great flavor, pleasant flesh texture, and easy separation of pit and flesh"—which are carefully hand-picked berry by berry from the branches, sorted, debittered, and pickled.
Delicious Ways to Enjoy
Thanks to warm temperatures, virtually no typhoon damage, and continued sunny weather leading up to the harvest, this year's olives grew plump and round, resulting in a crop that reflects the blessings of nature even more than usual.
They serve not only as great snacks for sake, beer, wine, and sparkling wine, but also as an accompaniment to rice.
Why not try pairing these "delicacy" lightly pickled olives with Japanese wine?
