A limited brew wine from "Katashimo Winery" has arrived from "wa-syu OFFICIAL ONLINE SHOP" (hereinafter "wa-syu"), an online shop proposing the enjoyment of Japanese wine.
The wa-syu limited brew "Awa Orange Hokichibatake Delaware 2021" went on sale on Tuesday, March 7, 2023.
When it comes to "Katashimo Winery," it is a long-established winery representing the Kansai region that every Japanese wine fan knows.

About Katashimo Winery
Katashimo Winery is the oldest established winery in western Japan, founded in 1914 (Taisho 3).
At the time of its founding, winemaking made full use of sake brewing techniques, meaning toji (master brewers) participated in the winemaking.
It is also a winery rich in historical anecdotes, such as having four of the only five surviving Koshu grapevines over 100 years old in Japan remaining in its vineyards.
Currently, the leaders of grape growing and winemaking are the 4th-generation head Toshihiro Takai and the 5th-generation head Makiko Takai.
With the mottos of "growing healthy grapes" and "valuing hygiene management inside the winery," they continue to carefully craft high-quality Japanese wine.
The Hokichibatake Project
The wine released this time as a wa-syu limited brew is "Awa Orange Hokichibatake Delaware 2021."
Just what kind of vineyard is "Hokichibatake," which also serves as the wine's name?
Even before the SDGs were widely discussed, "Katashimo Winery" has been tackling issues such as the decline of local industries and the sharp increase in abandoned farmland caused by an aging population.
As part of this, they launched the "Hokichibatake Project."
One aspect of it is a sustainable initiative that plays on words by referring to "abandoned land (hokichi)" as the auspicious "treasure of good fortune (hokichi)," utilizing it as "a treasure vineyard that brings good fortune = Hokichibatake."
"Awa Orange Hokichibatake Delaware 2021," released this time as a wa-syu limited brew, is a sparkling wine made using 100% Delaware grapes grown in that Hokichibatake.
It is an artisanal bottle made using grapes grown freely without gibberellin treatment to make them seedless and without herbicides.
