Takahata Town is located in the southern part of the prefecture, a nature-rich town bordered by Fukushima Prefecture to the south and Miyagi Prefecture to the east. Agriculture thrives in Takahata Town, including rice cultivation as well as crops such as grapes and La France pears. In particular, "Kamiwada Organic Rice," which has won top prizes in rice-tasting competitions and other contests, is a nationally recognized brand of rice. Regarding the Chardonnay and Delaware varieties also used by Takahata Wine, it boasts the highest shipment volume in Japan on a municipal level, and Takahata Town is widely known as a pioneer of organic farming.
