ABOUT
Takahata Town lies in southern Yamagata Prefecture, bordering Fukushima to the south and Miyagi to the east, and is rich in nature.
Agriculture thrives here, from rice to grapes and La France pears. Among its products, Kamiwada organic rice has placed highly in taste competitions and is nationally recognized. For Chardonnay and Delaware grapes also used by Takahata Wine, the town boasts Japan’s highest shipment volume at the municipal level. Takahata is also widely known as a pioneer of organic agriculture.
