The “Shinshu Ueda Matsutake & Wine Festival 2025” will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2025.
The popular event lets visitors enjoy Shinshu cuisine together with wine and sake. The second ONSEN Gastronomy Walking in Shinshu Ueda will also take place on the same day.

About the “Shinshu Ueda Matsutake & Wine Festival 2025”
The festival is an event in Ueda, Nagano Prefecture, where guests can enjoy matsutake dishes and other Shinshu specialties alongside wine and sake.
Ueda is one of Japan’s major matsutake-producing areas and also lies within the Chikumagawa Wine Valley, one of the country’s leading wine regions. The festival was created from a desire to build a “new Japanese food culture” by pairing Shinshu cuisine, including matsutake dishes, with wine.
What to Expect
This year’s venue is the lawn at Aisome-no-Yu in Bessho Onsen, Shinshu’s oldest hot spring, located within the Japan Heritage area “Sacred Places of Sun and Earth Connected by Ley Lines — Shinshu Ueda and Shiodadaira, the Land that Lives with Dragons.”
Guests can enjoy special matsutake dishes designed for wine, including matsutake pizza, as well as carefully selected foods featuring premium Shinshu beef, pork, chicken, prosciutto and cheese.
A wine bar specializing in Chikumagawa Wine Valley will serve around 80 premium wines from the region, while local liquor shops will offer hard-to-find sake.
