TOYOSHIMA FARM, which cultivates wine grapes in Akita Prefecture, has launched a crowdfunding campaign to establish a winery.
Born from the desire to protect the beautiful rural landscape by demonstrating the potential of agriculture to local children, this project aims to open a new winery.
Here are the details.
About the Crowdfunding Campaign
TOYOSHIMA FARM's project is titled "Taking on the Challenge of Opening a Winery at the Foot of Mt. Chokai in Akita! ~Protecting the Beautiful Scenery of Our Hometown~."
"Shinokuni Shoten," an e-commerce site operated by Shinokuni Akita Co., Ltd.—a regional trading company dedicated to developing sales channels for carefully selected Akita products centered on food and crafts—launches joint projects with Akita producers on "SCOP" within the crowdfunding platform CAMPFIRE to support their initiatives.
The third project in this series is a collaboration with "TOYOSHIMA FARM," which is striving to establish a winery in Yashima-machi, Yurihonjo City, Akita Prefecture.
Reaching its initial goal of 500,000 yen on the very first day, the project is now working toward its next goal of 3,000,000 yen.
About TOYOSHIMA FARM
At TOYOSHIMA FARM, Kosei Toyoshima has been cultivating wine grapes since 2016 in his hometown of Yashima-machi, Yurihonjo City, Akita Prefecture.
Up until now, the farm has sold wine and juice made from its harvested grapes by consigning production to wineries outside the prefecture.
Now, he is taking on the challenge of establishing a winery, a dream he has held since he first started grape growing.
Mr. Toyoshima envisions the future that opening a winery in Yashima-machi can bring:
Producing "made in Yashima" wine
Becoming a new hub for tourism and exchange
Showing the potential of agriculture to the local children of the hometown
The planned site for the winery is reportedly located close to Yashima Station on the Yuri Kogen Railway, where sightseeing trains also run.
