Star Wine List is a guide to outstanding wine bars and wine restaurants around the world, launched in Stockholm in 2017.
One of its defining features is its focus on the wine lists themselves. Star Wine List selections are created by a global team of sommeliers and wine professionals together with ambassadors around the world.
Its annual Star Wine List of the Year awards recognize the world’s best wine lists, and the competition will be held in Japan for the first time on April 15, 2025. Gold and Silver Star winners will be announced at an awards ceremony held during ProWine Tokyo.
“We are very happy to bring our celebration of wine lists to Japan for the first time. We look forward to shining a spotlight on Japan’s gastronomy and wine scene and celebrating together with the ProWine team,” said Star Wine List founder and publisher Krister Bengtsson.
Winners in Japan will qualify for the International Final in Vienna in June 2025, where Japan’s winning wine lists will compete against winners from other countries. Entry is free, and wine bars and restaurants across Japan are invited to apply.
The entry deadline is Sunday, February 23, 2025.
A dedicated “Japanese Wine List” category is also planned for the Japan competition.
Restaurants and wine bars are encouraged to enter.
