Sato-goya, the only mountain hut on Mt. Fuji that has operated during the winter, will launch the "Mt. Fuji 5th Station Winter Mountain Hut Stay Tour" starting January 21, 2024. *Reservations open on December 18, 2023.
A unique tour where you can enjoy Yamanashi wine along with cuisine distinctive to mountain huts.
Let's take a look at the details.
About the "Mt. Fuji 5th Station Winter Mountain Hut Stay Tour"
The "Mt. Fuji 5th Station Winter Mountain Hut Stay Tour" is organized by Sato-goya (elevation 2,230 m), which has been the only mountain hut on Mt. Fuji to operate in winter for over 100 years since its founding.
Even first-timers to mountain huts and winter Mt. Fuji climbs can enjoy a "safe," "comfortable," and "warm" overnight stay at the hut.
It is an irresistible event for mountain lovers, offering visits to Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Jinja Shrine, trekking at the foot of Mt. Fuji (Nakanochaya), stargazing, making handmade s'mores, a morning walk up to the 6th station, and the sunrise.
Savor Yamanashi Wine, Too!
The tour offers winter-exclusive dining experiences.
Dinner at the mountain hut will feature hearty hut dishes centered around a warm pot-au-feu made with ingredients from the foot of the mountain (finished with risotto made from homegrown rice) and wild game venison steaks grilled on Mt. Fuji lava plates.
In addition, sommelier-selected Yamanashi wines will also be served.
Spending time sharing wine with the hut staff is another pleasure unique to mountain huts during the off-season.
