On Saturday, November 28, 2026, the "Sightseeing Train 'Rokumon' Autumn Shinshu Cruise" will be held as a special collaborative project between Shinano Railway and the Ueda Regional Development Bureau.

Along with the pride of Ueda region's alcoholic beverages, this time a special menu featuring matsutake mushroom cuisine paired with local ingredients will reportedly be served by "Shoraitei" from Bessho Onsen in Ueda City.

A special journey to fully enjoy the charms of the Ueda region can be experienced aboard the Rokumon.

About the "Sightseeing Train 'Rokumon' Autumn Shinshu Cruise"

The "Sightseeing Train 'Rokumon' Autumn Shinshu Cruise" is a special operation project organized in collaboration between Shinano Railway's Rokumon and the Nagano Prefecture Ueda Regional Development Bureau.

Rokumon is well known as a luxury sightseeing train that runs between Karuizawa Station and Nagano Station in Nagano Prefecture, and is a popular train boasting an attractive deep red exterior inspired by Sanada Nobushige's "Akazonae" (red armor), accented with gorgeous gold.

This time, it is said to be an ultra-luxurious train journey that allows passengers to discover the charms of the Ueda region while riding the magnificent Rokumon.

In the first place, the fact that the Rokumon is based around "Ueda Station" rather than Karuizawa and Nagano is itself an extremely rare situation.

It is an irresistible plan for lovers of travel and fine drinks.

A luxurious time to savor matsutake mushrooms and Ueda's local drinks

The real thrill of the "Sightseeing Train 'Rokumon' Autumn Shinshu Cruise" is the exquisite dining and alcoholic beverages that can only be enjoyed here.

First, the cuisine is a special menu crafted by "Shoraitei" of Bessho Onsen in Ueda City, combining matsutake mushroom dishes with local ingredients.

It will be paired with sake selected by Kunihiko Miyajima, owner of the Shinshu local sake specialty shop "Jizakeya Miyajima," featuring sake from six sake breweries that the Ueda region takes pride in.

Furthermore, outside of the course meal times at stop stations and onboard, the plan allows you to enjoy beverages from the Ueda region's 20 wineries,
1 cidery, and 4 breweries.

Incidentally, while the train will head toward Karuizawa this time, it makes a stop at Tanaka Station along the way.

There, you will savor wine, fermented foods, and more that the Ueda region takes pride in.

Accommodation options to relax in hot springs are also recommended!

Many people will surely think, "I was enchanted by the matsutake cuisine and the fine drinks of the Ueda region... but since I've come all this way, I'd love to stay overnight in Ueda City."

This time, Kakeyu Onsen and Bessho Onsen are also collaborating, and exclusive accommodation plans limited to this project are reportedly being prepared.

Because you can tour the Ueda region at a leisurely pace on the second day, you will be able to discover the charms of Ueda City that could not be fully captured during the initial travel program.

The departure date for the "Sightseeing Train 'Rokumon' Autumn Shinshu Cruise" is Saturday, November 28, 2026.

The tour fee is 38,000 yen per person (same price for adults and children / tax included), with a capacity of 48 participants (minimum participant count: 15).

Tickets are currently on sale, but online sales will reportedly not be available once the train is fully booked.

An ultra-luxurious sightseeing train journey that is sure to thoroughly satisfy Japanese wine fans.
