From Friday, March 28 through Sunday, March 30, 2025, Karuizawa Prince Hotel will offer a collaboration dinner event and accommodation plan featuring Koshihikari rice from Shinshu producers certified under the World’s Best Rice program.
It is the hotel’s first collaboration with Onigiri Taro, who has become popular in Japan and overseas for lovingly shaping piping-hot rice cooked in a clay pot into onigiri.

About the Event
Onigiri Taro is a chef who shares the appeal of rice with the world through the traditional Japanese food onigiri. His performances shaping hot rice cooked in a clay pot are popular in Japan and overseas, and his appearances with numerous celebrities on television and social media have also attracted attention.
At Karuizawa Prince Hotel, Onigiri Taro’s rice balls will be made with Koshihikari grown by Fusa-o Shimizu, a certified World’s Best Rice producer in Komoro, Nagano, and Toshiya Kobayashi, who received a special excellence award as a young agricultural manager at the 2024 International Contest on Rice Taste Evaluation. They will be served as the centerpiece of a teppanyaki course rich in Shinshu ingredients, together with a Shinshu wine pairing dinner.
Collaboration Program
The event includes a special dinner at Teppanyaki Mori, inside Sukiyaki, Shabu-shabu & Teppanyaki Soyokaze, and an accommodation plan with collaboration breakfast at Japanese Restaurant Karamatsu.
At Teppanyaki Mori, guests can enjoy an exceptional menu including Onigiri Taro rice balls made with Koshihikari from a World’s Best Rice producer in Komoro, along with four pairings from breweries and wineries in Nagano Prefecture.
