“All Right! Fermentation Highway Open 2025” will be held for 10 days from Saturday, October 4 through Monday, October 13, 2025, along the former Hokkoku Kaido in Niigata City's Nishi and Nishikan wards.
The event is described as a new experiential road festival where fermentation and people meet, covering sake, wine, beer, pickles, bread, and more.

About “All Right! Fermentation Highway Open 2025”
The event is a special 10-day road festival where visitors can enjoy diverse fermentation cultures including sake, wine, beer, pickles, and bread while meeting, talking with, and connecting with people from the area.
Its stage is the former Hokkoku Kaido, running from Niigata City's Nishi Ward through Nishikan Ward toward Yahiko.
The road still retains traces of the post towns through which travelers and goods once passed. Today it is an unusually dense cluster of fermentation-related businesses, including sake breweries, wineries, a beer brewery, pickle shops, and bakeries. During the festival, many of these operators will open their doors at the same time.
Stories to Encounter Here
Several sake breweries along the normally quiet old highway will open simultaneously during the festival period.
A winery continuing its challenge in the sand-dune landscape will also participate.
Multiple breweries and wineries will open at once, allowing visitors to try limited drinks available only here.
Fermented foods such as pickles and bread will also be featured.
Farmers markets, talk events, local cafés and restaurants, and small programs organized by community groups and students will take place throughout the route at the same time.
Shuttle buses and car-sharing services will make it easier to visit locations along the highway, allowing even those without a car to enjoy the area.
