In fact, Nishi Shuzo Co., Ltd. began winemaking in New Zealand, an island nation in the Southern Hemisphere, in 2019.
The brand name is "GLADSTONE URLAR," and the winery is located in the Gladstone sub-region of Wairarapa, a renowned wine-producing area in New Zealand.
The wine being released this time, exclusive to Kurachoku CLUB, is a white wine crafted from Viognier, a grape variety grown on only 1 hectare of their own estate vineyard and never before released under the URLAR label.
It is a bottle packed with brewery-style technique, blending Viognier fermented in used French oak barrels with that skin-contact fermented in stainless steel tanks.

On the palate, it begins with a smooth attack, well-balanced mellow fruitiness, and slightly elevated acidity, accented by a lingering floral flavor like lavender and a subtle bitterness on the finish.
