On Wednesday, February 5, 2015, a tasting event offering the chance to learn about and taste Koshu wines from Japan and the United States will be held at DMO Tokyo Marunouchi on the sixth floor of the Marunouchi Nijubashi Building.
The event is organized by the Association of OIV-Registered Varieties.
Here are the details.
About the Tasting Event
Koshu is now being cultivated in places such as Germany and the United States, where excellent wines are being produced.
Why are producers outside Japan taking on the challenge of working with Koshu, a grape variety indigenous to Japan?
This tasting event will bring together a winery working with Koshu in Napa Valley, California, and wineries from representative Japanese regions that have cultivated Koshu for many years. While enjoying wine and finger food, the producers will share their thoughts and experiences with Koshu.
Around 10 Wines Made from Indigenous Japanese Grape Varieties
Kazumi Wines, which is producing Koshu wine in Napa Valley, will be invited to participate. Together with producers from Katsunuma and Tsuruoka—representative regions in Japan with long histories of working with Koshu—participants will taste each winery’s flagship wines.
After the talk session, guests can enjoy around 10 wines made from indigenous Japanese grape varieties, including wines from the participating wineries, together with six special finger foods designed by Yumiko Uchida to complement Koshu wine, plus wine sekihan rice.
During this part of the event, guests will also have the opportunity to speak directly with the producers.
Why not take this opportunity to enjoy a special experience?
