General Incorporated Association MORIUMIUS FARM has decided to expand with a new facility in the autumn of 2025, supported by The Nippon Foundation.
Recruitment for Chapter 2 "Farm Owners"—fellow partners in nurturing a vineyard together—begins on Sunday, September 1, 2024.
Furthermore, a community for farm owners called "OGATSU SHIZUKU TEAM," where members can learn about and experience everything from grape cultivation to winemaking, will also be newly launched.
Here are the details.
About MORIUMIUS FARM
MORIUMIUS FARM was established in 2023 with the aim of nature restoration for the future of children and Ogatsu-cho, which was affected by the tsunami.
As part of the activities of Ogatsu Garden Park, which revitalized the former town center of Ogatsu-cho with flowers and greenery according to residents' wishes, it continues its public-private partnership activities to nurture a large related population.
In a crowdfunding campaign launched in May 2023 under the theme of "Agriculture and Town Development," it exceeded its target and raised approximately 4.65 million yen in support; in addition, in December 2023, it recruited Chapter 1 "Farm Owners" as companions to watch over the restoration of Ogatsu-cho's land and nature together.
In June 2024, a total of 467 people planted around 1,300 grape saplings at MORIUMIUS FARM, and in five years, the goal is to harvest and vinify grapes grown on MORIUMIUS FARM's own land.
