PIZZA DAY, a wool-apparel brand operated by Spicelink Inc., has partnered with Nasushiobara City in Tochigi Prefecture.
The brand has launched a special website for “Wool, Wine and the WA of Nasushiobara!,” a resource-circulation project combining apparel with one of the city’s key industries: wine.
Here are the details.
About the Resource-Circulation Project
In “Wool, Wine and the WA of Nasushiobara!,” PIZZA DAY’s proprietary organic fertilizer made from waste wool, already used in its circular-economy initiatives, is also applied in partner vineyards in Nasushiobara.
The grapes grown with that fertilizer are then transformed into wine.
Alongside the website launch, sales have begun for the “Meguri no WA! Set,” a product intended to let people experience the resource cycle through all five senses.
The special site explains the project’s background, aims and circulation model in an accessible way while also selling products created through the initiative.
It also introduces a “Meguru WA! Experience Program” that allows purchasers to take part in winemaking, as well as project-exclusive benefits linked to sightseeing spots in Nasushiobara.
About the Products
The first set combines a wool T-shirt and wine.
It pairs a wool T-shirt with wine made from grapes grown using fertilizer derived from discarded wool, using the story of “wool reborn as wine” to encourage people to see resource circulation and environmental issues as personally relevant.
The T-shirt uses ultra-fine 17.5-micron merino wool and offers moisture absorption, deodorizing, insulation and stain resistance.
Red and rosé wines made from Muscat Bailey A and filled with the character of Nasushiobara are now on sale.
Be sure to check them out.
